The Spruce Meadows season is a bit like Christmas. There is a long lead-up filled with excitement, and then it is gone in the blink of an eye, leaving you wondering what happened. Over the course of the summer series and the Masters, I took in the range of 10,000 photos- yikes! Since I was using new camera gear, it was very much a learning process, and I really experimented with what worked and what didn’t. Overall, I got some of the best pictures that I have ever taken, along with a decent sprinkling of not so good ones. Since I only got my first “real” camera three years ago, and I am not known to be an artistic/creative person, I’m pretty happy with where I am at 🙂
Trying to pinpoint my favourite 10 photos out of 10K was pretty daunting. Therefore, I think I ended up choosing the moments that I liked the best, and then picking photos from there. Furthermore, my bias towards certain horse/riders is pretty obvious, but hey, all show jumping fans have their favourites!
I also just want to thank you all for your kind words on Facebook about my photos – it means a lot, and definitely drives me to keep on trying!
And, sorry I know it is supposed to be my top 10, but I have to include one of Quelmec du Gery… he is just so adorable and sweet!
