A while back, I blogged about the 5 scariest things I have ridden past (read it here). I guess I see lots of scary things and some days are scarier than others. I have that image of the cartoon with the scared horse titled “Horror Movie for Horses. The Plastic Bag that Flapped.”
This week has been a bit of a gong show as I hack to and from the Riding Club where I ride. Here are some of the scary things we encountered:
1. Leave the driveway to encounter a gardener blowing leaves. Her back is to me, and she is blowing the leaves away from me. Verdict: Not Scary.
2. Off down the road, we passed a tarp covering a load of soil, flapping lightly in the breeze. Verdict: Not Scary.
3. I turn down the road and rode past the various cars, trucks, dump trucks that we usually pass everyday. Including a yellow tractor, engine running moving a load of bricks. Verdict. Not Scary.
4. Try to walk past the painted bicycle on the road….
Imagine horse snorting slightly and prancing sideways on the pavement in response to the bicycle and pavement being wet with the sun shining on it. The paint is not new, they bicycle has been there for a long long time. Verdict: Scary!
Sometimes you just never know when they will play the game of Scary or Not.
