I can hardly wait!  Even today’s -17 degree weather can’t quash my excitement because I get to escape this wicked winter. I am going to Wellington!

My travel arrangements are made. My to-do schedule is nearly complete. My credit cards are paid down. Now to take out my Florida-wear out of the deep recesses of my closet and get ready for my first experience of all-horsey, all the time wonderland!

Not only do I get to see what all the excitement is about, but I’ll be auditing the Charles de Kunffy clinic being hosted at Yellowbird Farms in February. Three days of pure bliss. In addition, I’ll be watching my trainer’s mom (and perhaps even my trainer) lesson with JJ Tate. And to round out my first-timer excursion, I hope to be attending the Global Dressage Forum. I may never be the same after nearly a week in this magical place.

Two years ago, I hadn’t even heard of Wellington. I had no idea that there was a parallel dimension that exists from November through March for all us horse-lovers! Now, I’m not sure I have a grasp on what I’ll experience. Will it be like Rolex, Devon, and clinics rolled into one with never-ending tack shopping? I’m not sure, but I’m looking forward to finding out!

Carter will be staying home with our trainer, Laura (who will be going in just a week so she won’t be missing out either). He will be getting his own clinic time in with Laura. I’ll leave behind his expected carrots, apples, and peppermints and put my picture by his bed so he can remember me when I get home.

The one piece of advice one of my fellow Horse Junkies United bloggers gave me, “bring the credit card with the high limit.” Oh boy…. I might be in trouble.
