This weekend is the Ottawa Dressage Festival held at Wesley Clover Parks. It also happens to be the final qualifier for the Canadian Dressage Team for this summer’s Pan Am Games in Toronto. As a wanna be dressage rider who happens to have the good fortune of working just around the corner from Wesley Clover Parks, I took the opportunity to sneak out for 45 minutes and watch 3 of the Grand Prix tests over lunch.

As luck would have it, those 3 tests (all Canadian!) all happened to finish in the top 4:

1st Place – Megan Lane &  Caravella, 71.640%

2nd Place – Jacqueline Brooks & D Niro, 70.680%

4th Place – Evi Strasser & Renaissance Tyme, 65.740%

Jacqueline Brooks & D Niro - Freestyle Demonstration at NAJYRC

I did unfortunately miss 3rd place finisher Christilot Boylen and Drentano (also Canadian, 70.020%). My only other regret about today is I didn’t put my camera in my car this morning and therefore instead of my usual full of photos posts, you get a YouTube video done Snapchat style. I have only once before had the opportunity to photograph an FEI dressage horse (Jacqueline Brooks & D Niro doing a freestyle demonstration at NAJYRC in 2013) so am looking forward to the rest of the weekend… camera in hand this time!
