“If you face your fears, swallow your pride, and are willing to work at it, you’ll learn lessons in courage, commitment and compassion, in addition to basic survival skills. You’ll discover just how hard you’re willing to work toward a goal, how little you know, and how much you have to learn.  And while some people think the horse “does all the work”, you’ll be challenged physically as well as mentally. Your horse may humble you completely. Or, you may find that sitting on his back is the closest you’ll get to heaven. ”

~ For The Love of a Horse

I have felt both.  That moment in time when you accomplish something so far-fetched that you are completely humbled by the sheer attainment of it.  And, that moment in the early morning when the mist is still hovering above the ground, you’re half way though your warm up and the surrounding chaos around you seems to be something fuzzy in the distance…It is just you, and your horse.  Nothing.  Else.  Matters.  That is as close to heaven as I have ever been.

People out there come from all walks of life.  All have different interests.  All have different beliefs.  All have different likes and dislikes.  When it comes to the horse world however, all these different people from different walks of life unite together  to celebrate the pure joy that our 4 legged friends give us on a daily basis.  The Bottom Line is, we always do it – whatever ‘it’  is – for the horses.  I definitely do ‘it’ for the horses.  Horses bring us a mixed bag of emotions: joy, pain, accomplishment, frustration, fulfillment, heartbreak, but, most importantly:  unconditional love.  And they ask us for nothing in return but to be loved back.  Yes, some will argue (myself included) that horse people range from being mildly insane to completely bonkers and that people who (for whatever reason), do not make horses part of their lives simply ‘don’t get it’.  Who hasn’t had that conversation?

Now.  Imagine the possibilities when you take several very enthusiastic and talented amateur riders from across the English disciplines and unite them by providing a sounding board for all things horses, across all disciplines: Eventing, Dressage & Hunter/Jumper.  Our goal?  To provide meaningful relevent savvy witty canny clever insightful and (oh okay), sometimes witty content that relates to all the other amateur riders out there, regardless of the discipline you ride!  Thereby uniting not only amateur riders of one single discipline, but all amateur riders across all English Disciplines…and, I am really looking forward to learning some cool stuff from some Hunter/Jumper and Dressage riders!!

Want to know the best place to buy your show duds for the upcoming season?  Want to know exactly what you should be vaccinating your horse for this year?  Want to finally be able to get some insight into that Dressage World but were too scared to venture to the dark side?? (I include myself in that category.)  Want to know what it is like to be a groom at a big Hunter/Jumper barn?  Want to hear about the girl who just bought an OTTB and is going to turn him into an eventer in 3 months?  Want to know what makes us all Horse Junkies?  Want to know what drives me (and the rest of the Horse Junkies United Team), absolutely bonkers when it comes to horse people?

Well, I can guarantee you that the answers to all this and more will be available very shortly.  This is a site that is by amateurs, for amateurs, with the common goal of uniting together a community of people who love the horses in their lives.  We are the voice of all amateur riders out there!

Welcome to Horse Junkies United!
