Want to ride in college? Or have a son or daughter that does? Applications have opened for the 2016 College Prep Invitational (CPI), a program that allows young equestrians (Grades 9-12) to explore the college equestrian experience.

From the CPI:

MIAMI, Florida – Applications are now open to Juniors and Seniors who wish to attend The College Preparatory Invitational (CPI), a program that allows young equestrians to explore the college equestrian experience through a comprehensive education, competition and scholarship/community service program. Riders currently enrolled in grades 9 through 12 are eligible and encouraged to review the CPI Rules and Regulations and apply for the opportunity to participate by completing the CPI Online Application.

During the CPI event, riders experience the college equestrian competition format and win scholarships in hunt seat equitation competition; they can explore an equestrian-focused college fair, attend educational presentations and take advantage of the opportunity for direct conversations with college admissions representatives and equestrian tem coaches. Riders have a choice of attending the event at either of two world-class equestrian venues as the CPI East Coast event will be held January 15-17, 2016 at the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center in Palm Beach, FL and the West Coast CPI will be held March 11 – 13, 2016, at the LA Equestrian Center’s ‘Equidome’ in Burbank, California.

The official CPI application schedule is as follows:
July 1, 2015 – Applications open for Junior & Seniors.
August 15, 2015 – Applications open for all student riders, grades 9-12.
October 15th, 2015 – last day to submit an application without incurring a $25.00 application fee.
The cost to attend the CPI is $530.00, which includes horse show entries, access to the college fair and event speakers, and sponsor-hosted social events throughout the weekend. All participants are also eligible for CPI scholarships and in 2015 the organization awarded $4700.00 in scholarships to riders at the January event.

“Each year I am overwhelmed with the number of quality applications we receive and the talented student riders who participate in the program,” said CPI President, Lindsay Martin, “I’m excited with our expansion to the West Coast to be able to offer our student riders a new opportunity to choose their preferred event and venue.”

In 2015, the CPI horse show in Palm Beach, Florida marked its fifth year with 150 student riders and nearly 30 participating colleges/universities from all over the nation. More than 30 states, including Hawaii, were represented by the diverse roster of participants who attended the CPI.

About the College Preparatory Invitational
The CPI is a three-day event designed to educate student riders about the different formats of college equestrian competitions and provide riders with resources to help them create their desired college equestrian experience. Riders in grades 9 through 12 have a chance to win scholarships in hunt seat equitation competition and participate in educational presentations throughout the event. In an effort to encourage academic excellence and embed social integrity as a lifelong commitment to the equestrian sport, the CPI Scholarship and Educational Fund also awards riders the opportunity to win scholarships for academics and community service.
